Humane Society Groundbreaking
The Humane Society of Pinellas celebrated the construction of its new state-of -the art pet adoption center at 3040 State Road 590
in Clearwater with a groundbreaking and partial razing of its 1949 concrete building. The $4 million project is being fully funded
by Rebecca and Stu Sjouwerman, owners of the KnowBe4 cybersecurity firm of Clearwater, and will be named for them. The
14,847-square-foot Sjouwerman Adoption Center, a safe, indoor, climate-controlled, modern, efficient sprinkler-equipped shelter,
will provide individualized care and help find forever homes for the homeless animals of Pinellas County and the Tampa Bay area.
Stu and Rebecca Sjouwerman, whose generous donation
will enable the Humane Society’s new pet adoption center
to become a reality, were thanked by Clearwater’s Mayor
Frank Hibbard for all they do in the community.
EDITOR’S NOTE: This event was COVID-19 safety compliant. Participants maintained social distancing and
wore masks except for eating, drinking or when being photographed.
