SUZAN DECKER ROSS
Gloria Steinem once said, “Dreaming is a form
of planning.” If that’s true, Suzan Decker
Ross did a lot of planning before launching
her career. She thinks making a living in any
creative endeavor requires dreaming in one form
or another. One has to see things before they exist.
Suzan grew up speaking furniture. Her parents
were both in the business, so rearranging the
furniture happened often, sometimes while you
were sitting in it. That was probably the genesis of
her interest in design. Owning and managing her
own design firm was another one of her dreams.
It requires creativity as well, but from a different
part of the brain.
Decker Ross Design consumes a lot of Suzan’s

attention, along with her large extended family. Her
ten-year-old granddaughter owns her heart. Suzan
volunteers a lot. And then there’s her passion…
travel.
Einstein said… ”Creativity is intelligence having
fun.” She was inspired by that. And she’s still
having fun.
